The four great figures involved in the original revelation, and the subsequent development of the Bahá’í Faith, are :-

The
Báb (1819 - 1850), which means ‘the Gate’, who was the Herald announcing the coming of :-

Bahá’u'lláh (1817 - 1892) which means ‘the Glory of God’, the Founder of the Bahá’í Faith, and believed by Bahá’ís to be a Manifestation of God.

‘Abdu’l-Bahá (1844 - 1921) which means ‘the Servant of Bahá’ was the eldest Son of Bahá’u'lláh, who appointed him to be Head of the Bahá’í Faith after His passing.

Shoghi Effendi Rabbani (1897 - 1957) Guardian of the Bahá’í Faith and interpreter of its teachings, grandson of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, and appointed in His Will and Testament.
